Our Take

The Blue Business Cash Card from American Express is a popular cash-back credit card designed for small business owners. This card offers a range of benefits, including cash-back rewards, flexible spending limits, and expense management tools.

Advantages

$500 bonus in statement credits

You can receive $250 Statement Credit after spending $5,000 on qualifying purchases on your new Blue Business Cash from American Express within their first 6 months of card membership and an extra $250 statement credit after spending an additional $10,000 on qualifying purchases on your new card within their first 12 months of card membership.

12 months intro

As a new cardholder, you’ll enjoy a 12-month introductory period with no interest on purchases made with the card. That’s right – you can make purchases without worrying about accruing any interest for a whole year.

Cash back rewards

The Blue Business Cash Card from American Express offers a range of benefits, including a generous cash-back rewards program. Cardholders can earn 2% cash back on all purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year, and then 1% thereafter. This is a great incentive for small business owners who want to earn rewards on everyday purchases.

Flexible spending

Another advantage of this card is its flexible spending limits. Business owners can choose their own spending limits based on their needs and can adjust them at any time. This is a useful feature for managing expenses and staying within a budget.

Expense management tools

The Blue Business Cash Card from American Express offers a range of expense management tools, including account alerts, expense tracking, and the ability to add employee cards with custom spending limits. This can help business owners stay organized and track their expenses more effectively.

Disadvantages

High APR

One potential downside of the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express is its relatively high APR. This card has a variable APR that ranges from 13.24% to 19.24%, depending on the creditworthiness of the cardholder. This could be a disadvantage for business owners who carry a balance on their card from month to month.

Rewards Details

The rewards program for the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express is simple and straightforward. Cardholders earn 2% cash back on all purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year, and then 1% thereafter. There are no rotating categories or complicated redemption processes to worry about. Cash back can be redeemed as a statement credit, which can help offset business expenses.

Who is this card best suited for?

The Blue Business Cash Card from American Express is a great option for small business owners who want to earn cash back on their everyday purchases. This card is especially well-suited for business owners who spend less than $50,000 per year on their card, as this is the threshold at which the cash-back rate drops from 2% to 1%.

How Blue Business Cash Compares to Other Business Cards

Novo Business vs Blue Business Cash Card

The Novo Business Card is a good option for business owners who want to earn cash back without any annual fees. This card offers 1% cash back on all purchases, which is a lower rate than the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express. However, the Novo Business Card has no annual fee, making it a good choice for business owners who want to keep their expenses low. (See also: Novo Banking Review)

Revenued Card vs Blue Business Cash

The Revenued Card is designed for business owners with less-than-perfect credit. This card does not require a personal guarantee or a credit check, making it a good option for business owners who may have difficulty getting approved for other cards. However, the rewards program for the Revenued Card is less generous than that of the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express. (See also: 7 Things to Know About Revenued)

Chase Cash Business vs Blue Business Cash Card

The Chase Ink Cash Business Card is a good option for business owners who want to earn cash back on their purchases and also have access to a range of travel benefits. This card offers 5% cash back on select business categories, including office supply stores and internet, cable, and phone services. The rewards program for this card is more complicated than that of the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express, but it may be worth it for business owners who want to earn rewards on a wide range of business expenses. Things to consider that not everyone is aware of

One thing that not everyone is aware of is that the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express also offers a range of travel benefits, including car rental loss and damage insurance, roadside assistance, and travel accident insurance. These benefits can be useful for business owners who travel frequently for work and need to rely on their credit card for travel expenses.

Another thing to consider is that the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express has a foreign transaction fee of 2.7%. This can add up quickly for business owners who travel internationally or make purchases from international vendors. If you do a lot of international business, you may want to consider a card with no foreign transaction fees.

Bottom line

In conclusion, the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express is a great option for small business owners who want to earn cash back on their everyday purchases. This card offers a generous rewards program, flexible spending limits, and a range of expense management tools. While the APR is relatively high and there is no sign-up bonus, these downsides are outweighed by the benefits of the card.

When comparing the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express to other business credit cards, it is important to consider factors such as rewards rates, annual fees, and travel benefits. The Novo Business Card is a good option for business owners who want to avoid annual fees, while the Chase Cash Business Card is a good choice for those who want to earn rewards on a wide range of business expenses. The Revenued Card is designed for business owners with less-than-perfect credit, making it a good option for those who may have difficulty getting approved for other cards.

Overall, the Blue Business Cash Card from American Express is a solid choice for small business owners who want to earn cash back on their purchases and benefit from a range of expense management tools.

Cash back rewards and 1yr APR grace period

I started a small company and needed another card to use for business purposes. I read reviews and decided to get this card. I already own two other cards, but this one has the best cash back rewards that really do make a difference. The 12 free months without APR also came in handy. The penalties are steep, but as long as you pay everything on time, you won't have any problems. The bottom line is, I would recommend this card to friends and family members.
