The USAA Secured Platinum American Express Card is designed to give cardholders the flexibility that they want in a credit card. From savings opportunities and having control over the credit limit to being afforded cardholder benefits similar to a secured card, there are many aspects for cardholders to take advantage of.
- American Express concierge service and other exclusive AMEX card benefits
- GLow APR on purchases, balance transfers, and cash advances
- No application fee
- When you apply - you'll also be opening a USAA 2-year Certificate of Deposit, an interest-earning deposit account that has a two-year term and a $250-minimum initial deposit
- CD lets you get a credit card even if you don't have a credit history or have bad credit
- Enjoy no foreign transaction fees when you travel outside of the United States.
The USAA Secured Platinum American Express Card is a secured credit card that gives individuals control over their credit account. First, there is a Certificate of Deposit (CD) that the card's security deposit goes into. This is an interest-bearing account, so you are able to save money. The amount you deposit also establishes the credit limit. Whenever you want a credit line increase, you can request one and deposit more money into the CD in order to establish that increase.
There is also a small annual fee in order to maintain the card. This fee is in addition to the low APR and the transaction fees. The transaction fees include the balance transfer fee, cash advance fee, and the foreign transaction fee. Each one of these fees is charged as a small percentage of the transaction amount and the fee is charged per transaction. Balance transfers and cash advances also have their own APRs. Every APR on the card varies with the market, which is based on the Prime Rate, so it will fluctuate over time.
Lastly, there are a number of cardholder benefits that include collision damage waiver coverage on rental cars that pay for physical damage and theft, travel accident insurance, roadside assistance, and concierge service. There are a number of services that are afforded to cardholders. The list is always subject to change, so it is ideal to use online account management to stay on top of policies and to keep track of the specifics of the account.
