Our Take

Indigo Mastercard® for Less than Perfect Credit is a prime card specifically tailored to help people with poor or bad credit get back on their feet and rebuild their credit history.

Who is this Indigo Card for?

If your credit score stands between you and getting financial freedom, the Indigo Mastercard® for Less than Perfect Credit offers everything you need to build a credit score. The issuer of this card is Celtic Bank, while the card is serviced by Concora Credit Inc. These financial institutions are known for their credibility and longstanding history of helping people get their credit back to the “good category“.

Indigo Card for Less than Perfect Credit Benefits

Low requirements to apply

The most important advantage to consider here are the low requirements the issuer had when it comes to approving applications of clients. To apply and get this card, your credit score doesn’t have to be pristine. Even if your credit is in the “bad” category, you will still be able to acquire and use this card.

Credit score building toolkit

What makes this card even more desirable in the credit score building toolkit is its reporting practices. The issuer will send regular reports to all three major consumer credit bureaus in the U.S. Your history with all three credit bureaus will be improved, which will result in a higher score.

Fast online pre-qualification

People with poor and bad credit scores have to wait too long sometimes even for several weeks before the issuer responds to their application. With this Indigo card, you will have your answer in no time. Thanks to the online-based prequalification process, you will be able to submit a pre-application and get a response ultra fast. The issuer will check whether you can apply for the card or not. While the prequalification process is ongoing, there will be no hard inquiries made into your credit history. Your credit score will remain just as it was even if you get a negative response.

No security deposit required

We also loved that the issuer doesn’t demand a security deposit. As you might already know, a security deposit takes away a portion of your credit limit in the first month. Plus, people struggling to pull their financial lives together find it hard to put money aside for a deposit. With this card, you can forget about it.

High security

The card comes with important security features as well. These security features will protect you if your identity gets stolen. You can use these extra services to shut down your accounts, deal with fraudulent charges, and avoid being liable for your card being used.

Are There Any Disadvantages?

Ok, there are several advantages, but are there any disadvantages as well? There are some that you have to be aware of.

Costly annual fee

First of all, you should know that the issuer doesn’t have a fixed annual fee for this card. It will depend on your previous purchasing history, credit score, and income. And it can range anywhere from 0 to $99.

High APR

There is also a slight problem with interest charges. This card comes with costly interest charges. If you, by any chance, fail to pay your bills before the due date, the interest charges will kick in, and you will have to pay extra cash to cover the balance on your card.

High late payment fee

This card has a late payment fee that is up to $40. Both interest rates and the late payment fee make paying bills on time very important.

Other Card Benefits

  • Incredibly fast response time with online pre-qualification form
  • Standard benefits that come with a Mastercard® credit card
  • Sends reports of clients purchasing history and credit activity to all three major credit bureaus

Bottom Line

This credit card is a viable option for anyone with a less-than-perfect credit score who wants to get access to a credit card. You can use the Indigo Mastercard® for Less than Perfect Credit to improve your credit or continue building it. Yes, the APR and annual fee are a bit higher than the industry average, but you can use this card for a year and see the results because the issuer reports to all 3 main credit bureaus.

One of the best choices for improving credit card scores

I owned a private business that fell apart during the previous economic crisis in 2009. After I failed to pay my loans, I lost the business and my credit scores dipped as low as they could. I declared bankruptcy and have been trying to clear my name for 10 years now. The Indigo Mastercard turned out to be an excellent choice because it helped me raise my credit scores with all three bureaus. It's easy to use and anyone can get one. As long as I pay my bills on time, my scores keep going up. I love it.

Being frugal and rebuilding credit

When my credit score fell under 600, I knew I was in trouble and had to work on bringing it back. I managed to do this with the Indigo Mastercard. However, you should know that it takes time and sacrifice. Since my limit was $350, it was easy to keep my credit utilization at the right spot since it was low. In a year and a half, my credit score increased by 113, which is really amazing. However, I always kept CK utilization under 30%.
